Key Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Credit and Collection certification and/or training is preferred
- Minimum two (2) years’ direct collection experience within an office environment
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite – Outlook and Excel
- Basic Accounting practices and Credit approval knowledge
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with self-direction and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task
Description of Role
Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Credit Collections Specialist manages a portfolio of accounts, evaluates credit risk, and collects outstanding receivables. Responsibilities include regular credit reviews, contacting clients for payment, and maintaining accounts in good standing.
- Manage a portfolio of accounts, following collection procedures to recover past dues via phone, email, and collection letters
- Provide account statements, invoices, and backup documents upon request
- Review AR Aging reports to investigate and resolve past due invoices, collaborating with Operations, Sales, and Service teams
- Review accounts for Holds, communicate with clients and internal departments
- Reconcile client accounts, address misapplications, and make corrections
- Review aging reports for adjustments and write-offs; submit refund requests as needed
- Maintain detailed account notes and weekly collection reports
- Review credit reports to evaluate and maintain credit limits, including reference checks
- Monitor daily credit alerts and report to Credit Manager
- Submit credit limit reviews for potential increases
- Respond promptly to emails and client inquiries
- Send Customs ARL (K84) statements and collect GST/duty payments, reconciling with government data
- Assist clients with inquiries regarding government GST/duty debts and payments
- Handle after-hours calls regarding shipment clearance due to credit controls
- Perform other duties as assigned
