POSITION TITLE: Creative Manager

DEPARTMENT: Storytelling & Content Services

SALARY RANGE: Starting at $88,434.00 Per Annum

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Permanent

LOCATION: Saskatoon

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Storytelling & Content Services

Brief Overview

The Creative Manager leads the day-to-day operations of the Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) Creative Services team. Reporting to the Director of Storytelling & Content Services, the Creative Manager ensures the consistent application of the MN–S visual identity across all creative deliverables—print, digital, video, motion, and environmental.

As a collaborative leader and production lead, the Creative Manager fosters a high-performance, culturally grounded studio environment that delivers visual storytelling aligned with MN–S priorities and brand. This role ensures smooth workflows between Communications, internal clients, and Creative Services, and helps translate ministry objectives into compelling design and multimedia outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor Creative Services staff, including graphic designers, videographers, and content creators, fostering a strong, supportive, and inclusive creative culture.
  • Oversee execution of creative projects to ensure timely, high-quality, brand-aligned deliverables across all channels (print, digital, motion, social).
  • Collaborate with the Studio Project Manager to manage incoming work requests, schedule projects, allocate resources, and track deadlines.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all visual communications and uphold creative standards.
  • Translate project briefs into actionable creative plans and assign work accordingly.
  • Support development of creative briefs in partnership with Communications and internal ministry clients.
  • Provide constructive feedback, coaching, and performance reviews to creative staff.
  • Identify workflow and process improvements to increase studio efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date design templates, asset libraries, and brand guides.
  • Coordinate with external vendors (e.g., printers, photographers) when needed and ensure production quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Management Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-one check-ins, and annual performance evaluations.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
  • Model effective time and project management to support staff growth and quality control.
  • Liaise with Director and Project Manager to flag risks or resource constraints.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent visual design sensibility and knowledge of print and digital production processes.
  • Familiarity with creative workflow tools like Monday.com, SharePoint, and project management best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and service-oriented design.
  • Awareness and respect for Métis Nation culture, history, and visual identity.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in graphic design, visual communications, multimedia, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a creative studio or agency setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership, supervisory, or management role.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple creative projects from concept to delivery.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous, Métis, or culturally responsive design practices is strongly preferred.

  • A valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation to our downtown location would be required.
