Are you an experienced Crane Operator who takes pride in working safely and precisely? If so, we’d love to hear from you! VanPile is looking for someone like you to join our team and help keep our operations running smoothly.

This is a fly-in, fly-out position based in Prince Rupert, with a rotation of two weeks on, one week off. It’s a full-time, 12-month role, and we’ll take care of your travel and accommodation.

Now Hiring: Marine Crane Operators (3 Positions Available)

Location: Prince Rupert, BC (Fly-In Fly-Out)

Schedule: 2 weeks on / 1 week off

Duration: 12 months

Travel & Accommodation: Fully covered

What You’ll Be Doing :

  • Operate heavy equipment to move, load, and place materials on construction and marine sites.
  • Use cranes to lift and position equipment and materials, dredge, and drive piles in a marine setting.
  • Calculate crane capacities and weights to ensure safe rigging and hoisting.
  • Read and follow load charts, staying within crane capacity limits.
  • Assemble and operate cranes according to manufacturer and company specs.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance, and report any issues right away.
  • Maintain and repair deck mechanical and hydraulic systems on the vessel.
  • Keep an up-to-date catalogue of all equipment in your area.

What We’re Looking For :

  • Experience: At least 5 years operating various equipment, including friction cranes, especially in marine construction.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of civil and marine construction, including underground utilities.
  • Certifications:
    • Valid crane certification (Level or Red Seal equivalent)
    • Marine Basic First Aid
    • Valid driver’s license and clean abstract (if operating a company vehicle)
  • Skills:
    • Confident operating cranes, loaders, excavators, and marine derrick equipment
    • Able to assemble cranes, calculate capacities, and maintain mechanical / hydraulic systems
    • Familiarity with local waters is a plus
