The Deck Crane Operator position is a Platform rig crewmember whose primary function is operating the platform deck cranes, Pipe Deck Pipe Handler, and platform gantry cranes. The position also assists the Deck Supervisor with planning and execution of crane work and pipe deck activities, such as offloading and backloading support vessels.

Responsibilities

1. Provide visible leadership with a Total Ownership attitude. Owns safety standards.
2. Perform daily inspections of cranes and equipment prior to startup.
3. Enforce, clarify, and follow Company and Client policies, standards, and procedures.
4. Promote operational excellence through procedural discipline.
5. Follow the Client’s daily drilling/lift plans.
6. Responsible for upholding morale and maintaining order among the crew.
7. Ensure Competency Program – Authorized to Operate (ATO) and Approved Competent Operator (ACO) are applied and followed.
8. Ensure Client competency compliance is applied and followed.
9. Comply with platform emergency response plan or station bills during emergencies and/or drills.
10. Offload and load supply boats of any equipment necessary for platform operations.
11. Transfer materials and equipment as required, anywhere on the platform.
12. Assist with the preparation of tubulars, tools, and equipment when required.
13. Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and special projects as may be directed.
14. Know and understand the capacities, operating procedures, and limitations of the equipment to be operated.
