Job summary

The Liftsafe Group of Companies is seeking a skilled technician to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair overhead cranes and related equipment in a fast-paced industrial setting in Ontario. You will perform preventive maintenance, read blueprints, and work with up to 600V electrical systems while coordinating with customers and office staff to ensure timely, high-quality service.

Qualifications include CSA B167-16, ability to work at heights, forklift/manlift operation, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Proof of CSA B167-16 crane and hoist technician qualifications.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical data.
  • Ability to work in elevated areas with heights proof of completion.
  • Operate voltages up to 600V.
  • Use hand tools and trade tools proficiently.
  • Identify and resolve electrical problems and malfunctions.
  • Operate forklift and/or manlift equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate service and installation documentation.
  • Valid driver's license with clear status.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect overhead industrial cranes and hoists for safety and CSA/OSHA compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair material handling equipment and electrical systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
  • Serve as liaison between customer and office for service requests.
  • Evaluate repairs and provide improvement recommendations.
  • Maintain customer rapport with timely communication and service.
  • Document service actions with reports and checklists.

Job purpose

The purpose of this role is to fulfill a skilled labour position within the service department which will meet the supply and demand of Liftsafe Engineering and Service Group Inc. As outlined in this job description, the expectation is for the duties, responsibilities and qualifications to be efficiently performed and for this individual to contribute to the overall growth of the company. Duties and responsibilities
  • Inspect overhead industrial cranes and hoists to ensure safety and compliance with Mfg, OSHA and CSA standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair material handling equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment (strong knowledge of motors).
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
  • Provides customer service by acting as liaison between customer and office.
  • Repairs equipment as required.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding repairs.
  • Builds and maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting methods and techniques for improvement.
  • Keeps overhead crane systems operating by; performing inspections; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; responding to repair calls.
  • Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklist
  • Builds and maintains customer confidence by maintaining a good response time, informing customer of problems, and completing the job in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  • Proof of qualifications required to meet the most recent CSA definition of crane and hoist technician (currently B167-16)
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and understand technical data
  • Ability to work in elevated areas – working at heights proof of completion required
  • Work with voltages up to 600V
  • Ability to use hand tools and trade type tools
  • Ability to identify and resolve electrical problems and operational malfunctions.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and Manlift equipment.
  • Ability to mitigate additional damage by working with a high degree of precision and control
  • Strong working knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures
  • Ability to accurately document service and installation activities
  • Current Valid Driver's License with clear status
  • Experience can include alignment, overhaul, and field repair
