Job description

Call for CPA Assist Committee Members

The CPA Assist Committee is a Committee of the Board and oversees the CPA Assist program operated by CPA Alberta. CPA Assist is designed to help Alberta and Saskatchewan Chartered Professional Accountants (CPAs), candidates and their immediate families address mental illness, addictive behaviors, substance abuse and other personal or professional issues to ensure their well-being and the well-being of their communities and the accounting profession.

The CPA Assist Committee oversees strategic direction of the CPA Assist program and acts as an advisory resource to CPA Alberta management on the program activities that assist CPA Alberta in enhancing CPA wellness and protection of the public.

CPA Alberta is seeking the appointment of two to three Alberta-based individuals who have a passion for mental health and wellness to join the committee. The committee has identified the following criteria areas and professional experience of candidates that would strengthen the expertise of the committee and better balance the profile to reflect the membership at large. Ideal candidates would have at least one of the following criteria:

  • Reside outside of the major metropolitan areas of Edmonton and Calgary
  • Received their CPA designation in the last three years
  • Have the perspective of a professional accounting (public practice) practitioner in a mid-sized accounting firm

Being part of the CPA Assist Committee is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the CPA community. Committee members are appointed to serve for a term of three (3) years. Meetings are held virtually, with one meeting annually being held in Edmonton or Calgary.
