An overview of selected passive techniques that may be used to assess the congruence between urban environments and people
as they go about their daily activities. These techniques include : (1) observing physical traces, (2) observing behaviour, (3) cognitive mapping and wayfinding, and (4) the assessment of the overall quality of urban environments.
Duties: to teach a graduate seminar on approaches to analysis of the Montreal urban landscape, with emphasis on techniques of visual analysis that include: observing physical traces, behaviour and social activities, cognitive
mapping, wayfinding, and integrated assessment of environmental quality. The instructor will support student learning through delivery of course lectures, assignment and assessment of student exercises/papers, and response to student questions (office hours).

1 credit course

Salary: $3,826.33

Dates: September 2 to September 30 - Tuesdays from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

Doctoral level studies in urban design, urban planning, and/or landscape studies; professional planner (certified); familiarity with planning and urban landscapes in Montreal. Teaching and/or grading experience preferred
