Job summary

McGill University, Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE), invites applications to teach EDES 435-001: Teaching Secondary Science 2 for Winter 2027. The course covers the general science curriculum and teaching methods for Québec’s secondary schools; it is not team taught or offered online.

Location: Education Building; Schedule: Mon/Wed 08:35–11:25. Qualifications: MA in science education or equivalent experience; PhD is an asset.

Qualifications

MA in a relevant field (i.e. science education) and/or extensive relevant experience as a school educator/pedagogue/community educator.
PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.
Expert knowledge of secondary science pedagogy and related research.
Experience as a master teacher/instructor in science, mathematics, or a related field in the Quebec educational system.
Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP).
Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by Ministère de l’Éducation.
Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Familiarity with equity, diversity and inclusion principles.
Familiarity with myCourses, Zoom and other online platforms to facilitate teaching and learning.
Familiarity with blended teaching is an asset.
Familiarity with digital teaching and learning tools.
Familiarity with practice-based pedagogies in science teacher education is an asset.
