Course Description:Seminar in the social, cultural and political dimensions of English second language learning and teaching.

Schedule: Wednesday, 5:35 PM - 8:25 PM

This course is not Team taught.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):

Education

  • PhD in Second Language Education or related area (in exceptional cases, PhD candidates and master teachers with an MA and extensive relevant experience, significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered)

Experience

1.Expert knowledge of course content as represented in current eCalendar description, including:

  • sociolinguistics as applied to education

  • social, cultural and political dimensions of second language education learning and teaching.

2. Successful experience teaching similar course(s) is an asset

3. Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.

Other

  • Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.

  • Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date

  • Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion

  • Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences

  • Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset

  • Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
