Course Description:Exploration of the basic elements of visual art through two dimensional composition and three-dimensional constructions. Investigation of materials and tools and the processes of manipulating and relating materials.

This course is not taught electronically.

Location: EDUC 604

Schedule: T, 2:35 PM - 5:25 PM

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):

Education

  • Master Educator with an MA in a relevant field (e.g. Visual arts education, Design) and/or extensive relevant experience as an arts educator/artist-teacher.

  • PhD or equivalent is an asset

Experience

1.Expert Knowledge of:

  • Teaching students in a studio context how to explore, identify and apply basic visual elements and principles of art and design and to then teach these principles in a classroom context.

  • The relationship between form and content, and how to teach students to develop the ability to use and understand the techniques and principles of organization and visual communication.

2. Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level

3. Experience as a master teacher of visual arts and design in the Quebec educational system.

4. Familiarity with the Professional Competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.

Other

  • Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion

  • Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences

  • Familiarity teaching blended courses is an asset

  • Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
