This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group).

Title of Course: Guitar Fundamentals/ Strummin ’ ‘n’ Pickin’

Compensation:

  • 15 hours for D1
  • Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
  • Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $22.07 per hour (effective September 1, 2024).
  • Employees with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $34.73 per hour (effective September 1, 2024).

Duties:

Reporting to the Department Chair or Course Instructor, the duties include overseeing seminar/tutorial/lab sections; coordinating Teaching Assistants/Lab Demonstrators/Marker-Graders; assisting in marking schemes; coordinating marking of assignments and exams; and other related duties.

Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in guitar performance and/or pedagogy, or equivalent professional experience.
  2. Demonstrated teaching experience and competence in guitar pedagogy at the university level.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  4. Proven ability to work effectively with deadlines.

* Part-time Graduate Students and Non-Students shall not accept appointments exceeding maximum allowable hours under the Employment Standards Act.

The Collective Agreement governs part-time Instructor, Teaching Assistant, Lab Demonstrator, Course Coordinator, and Marker-Grader positions. The agreement is accessible on the Brock Human Resources website.
