Compensation

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to qualifications:

  • Employees without a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $22.04/hr (effective September 1, 2024).
  • Employees with a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $34.73/hr (effective September 1, 2024).
  • Additional duties as a Teaching Assistant will be compensated at the appropriate rate.
Duties

Reporting to the Department Chair or Course Instructor, duties include overseeing seminar/tutorial/lab sections, coordinating TAs/Lab Demonstrators/Markers, assisting with marking schemes, and other related duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Enrolled in or completed a postgraduate or Honours Degree in Human Geography or equivalent. Consideration for students with 13+ credits in an Honours Program in Human Geography or equivalent.
  • Completed 4 credits in Human Geography with an average of 75% or higher, or equivalent.
  • Completed GEOG 2P50 or equivalent with a grade of 75% or higher.
  • Excellent writing skills, strong communication, ability to prioritize, and self-motivation.

Note: Equivalency is determined by the instructor; applicants should demonstrate their qualifications accordingly.
