Overview

The College of New Caledonia requires a highly motivated, energetic counsellor for this position. We are looking for a self-starter who is dedicated to actively contributing to and supporting students’ goals and the College’s vision and goals, who helps maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating with students, co-workers and management in a respectful and supportive manner, who is committed to the concept of lifelong learning for everyone and who exemplifies cultural sensitivity.
Our successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and skills in clinical/personal counselling, human growth and development, human relations psychology, interpersonal communications, crisis intervention, risk assessment, educational testing, learning theory, career counselling and academic advising.
Major responsibilities include clinical counselling, crisis intervention, personal and social intervention, development and implementation of student retention strategies, involvement with community services and agencies, student orientation and assessment, workshop development and delivery, development and implementation of student-at-risk programs and academic advising and program development to assist students to meet their educational goals. Regional travel may be involved.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in counselling psychology, educational psychology, psychology or counselling with supervised practicum/clinical experience at the graduate level
  • Counselling experience in a public post-secondary environment.
  • 5 years of counselling experience preferred.
  • Registration, or eligibility for registration, with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, or the College of Psychologists

Salary $55.32 - $61.32 Commensurates with qualifications and relevant experience
