Job description

Part-Time, Contract (Ending : October 3, 2025)

When individuals in our community experience an urgent mental health or addictions crisis, they deserve a response that is person-centred and supportive, focusing on dignity and wellbeing.

The Crisis Assessment Team provides immediate, community-based mental health and addictions support 24 / 7, offering an alternative to emergency hospital services. As a team member, you will assess and mitigate crises, collaborating on strategies and resources to promote recovery and prevent future crises.

WHAT WE OFFER :

  • Starting salary : $27.14 / hr (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a differential based on regulation ( $30.01 / hr for regulated roles) . Registered professionals (e.g., OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, CPO) will receive the differential. External applicants start at Level 1 with progression up to Level 8 ($34.41 / hr non-regulated, $37.26 / hr regulated). Internal placement follows the Collective Agreement.
  • Work hours : 14 hours bi-weekly, every other weekend, 2 pm to 9 pm
  • Pension : Immediate eligibility for HOOPP enrollment

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE :

  • Conduct bio-psychosocial assessments, including risk and crisis management, de-escalation, stabilization, and referrals.
  • Build therapeutic relationships to support client engagement.
  • Evaluate and refer to community resources to meet client needs.
  • Identify relapse and safety risks, assess barriers to community living, and provide short-term psychotherapeutic interventions.
  • Respond calmly and efficiently in emergencies, respecting client privacy and dignity.
  • Apply harm reduction principles, advocate for clients, and facilitate access to services.
  • Support clients in connecting with natural supports and developing health management strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources, including mental health, addiction services, and entitlement programs.
  • Build collaborative relationships across service systems and provide face-to-face support.
  • Ensure culturally sensitive care and support diversity.

REQUIREMENTS :

Police Vulnerable Sector Check : Must be completed within six months prior to hire. City of London residents are encouraged to apply early due to processing times.

Qualifications :

  • Degree or diploma in health or social sciences (original proof required).
  • Current PVSC.
  • Ability to attend work regularly.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Registration with a professional college.
  • First Aid / CPR certification.
  • Bilingual in both official languages (preferred).
