NOW HIRING TURNAROUND Cost Controller

Job Description

We are seeking a highly accountable Cost Controller for a 1-year contract with strong potential for extension, supporting a large midstream company in Calgary. This role demands a seasoned professional with a CPA designation and proven experience managing costs for major projects, turnarounds, or outages. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in forecasting, daily burn rate tracking, and cost control, with a strong command of SAP. Power BI experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Be on-site during for the duration of TA (60 days - Sep/Oct 2026) - located 1 hour away from Medicine Hat.
  • Forecast spend to completion with accuracy.
  • Track and forecast daily burn rate.
  • Identify and communicate project overspend based on forecasts, providing visibility to the Project Manager.
  • Process daily LEMS and invoicing efficiently.
  • Collaborate with vendors to receive daily timesheets and LEMS.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in cost analysis, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Strong project accounting skills.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • 10-15 years of experience in cost control with a focus on forecasting.
  • Turnaround experience required - must have managed costs as a lead on at least two turnarounds valued between $30M–$60M.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Power BI experience for reporting is a nice-to-have.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in a similar role without a formal accounting designation may be considered if all other criteria are met.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a mix of office and on-site work, with a schedule of 4 days in the office and 1 day from home, except during on-site requirements. The position offers a daily LOA of $200 during the TA, with travel reimbursed at the CRA-based km rate.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, Alberta.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
