Position Summary:
Reporting to the Controller, the Costing Analyst provides accurate and timely cost analysis data in support of the manufacturing effort. The incumbent ensures data integrity of the plant’s financial reporting in accordance with established corporate standards and requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Works with Corporate finance to ensure accurate cost models with ownership of key files (Product File, Yield Standard File, Labour File).
- Prepares, reviews and analyzes daily, weekly and monthly production reports. This includes costing, inventory, yields, and labour reports in accordance with Plant Management, company policy and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Supports the plant management in the analysis of variances between actual costs occurring at the plant and standard costs, variances related to finished goods, products & raw material, and impact of variances (PPV) on the plant’s financial performance
- Perform Product Audits and Labour audits to validate the product standard costs; validate the consistency of information between the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by R&D and the Bill of Material. Working with Business Development Corporate Costing team to ensure consistent practice throughout Sofina.
- Identify changes to product standard costs and make recommendations to Business Development Team based on knowledge of operation and data generated in costing This includes the post-implementation cost update for new skus (i.e. ensuring that the test data used to develop the initial cost is being achieved in production).
- Compiles monthly and YTD Yield reports for seven production departments (Continuous Line; Sliced Meat; Fried, HPP, Smoked Products, Smoked Sausage; Uncooked Sausage) – x2 (for processing and packaging)
- Reviews all month end production reports and communicate with Controller to determine the final number for the pant production.
- Reconcile Labour based on the info received from Controller
Requirements:
- University degree or college diploma in Accounting is a must.
- Advanced Excel Skills is required
- 2+ years of experience in similar roles .
- Pursuing a Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is considered an asset.
