Hood Packaging Corporation seeks an experienced Cost Accountant for our East Angus plant. The successful candidate will analyze production costs, manage standard costs, and support payroll and accounts payable/receivable under the supervision of the Financial Controller.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree with accounting focus, 3–5 years in a similar role, strong analytical abilities, advanced Excel, and bilingual French/English. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, or Management.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and other computer applications.
• Functional bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written.
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update cost accounting data and standard costs.
• Analyze variances between actual and standard costs (labor, materials, overhead).
• Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend practical solutions.
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of cost data and product structures.
• Monitor inventory levels and discrepancies; collaborate with technical teams to improve products.
• Provide support to administrative teams and assist payroll, AP/AR as needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, or Management

Strong analytical skills

Advanced Excel proficiency
