Position Summary

As the Cost Accountant, you will hold a key leadership role within the finance department and serve as a strategic partner on the plant leadership team. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will collaborate closely with Operations leadership to monitor plant performance, deliver financial insights, and support data-driven decision-making aimed at achieving best-in-class operational results. You will also play an integral role in the successful implementation of the JDE system.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze manufacturing and operational costs, variances, and margins vs budget
  • Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accuracy in cost reporting
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and provide recommendations to optimize efficiency
  • Collaborate with operations, production, and procurement teams to understand cost drivers.
  • Maintain and improve standard costing systems
  • Prepare weekly operational cost forecasts
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process with accurate cost accounting data and reports
  • Assist in budget preparation by providing input on cost and plant overhead assumptions
  • Optimize usage of the JD Edwards Enterprise One ERP system for manufacturing.

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts associated with internal controls, processes, and procedures
  • Emphasis on internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment
Essential Qualifications
  • Strong analytical ability, good organization skills, and excellent time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills will be important
  • Ability to build trustworthy relationships with business partners
  • Continuously seeks opportunities to enhance knowledge and processes
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or a professional accounting designation
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting in manufacturing environment
  • Experience with inventory management and tracking, product costing and variance analysis
  • Strong knowledge with ERP systems
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
