We are currently seeking an ambitious Intermediate Cost Accountant to join our growing Finance team in London, Ontario. The ideal candidate will be passionate about analyzing production costs and operational expenses within the organization.

Reporting to the Controller, you will collaborate with various departments, using data trends to influence strategic business decisions and make informed recommendations to ensure accurate cost allocations that drive cost-saving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain a cost accounting system that ensures accurate costing in SAP.
2. Work closely with production and FP&A teams to improve cost efficiency and support decision-making.
3. Conduct profitability analysis and analyze cost structures for new products and projects, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
4. Prepare and analyze production costs of materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead to ensure efficiency and profitability.
5. Prepare Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) variance analysis.
6. Investigate and resolve errors or discrepancies, highlight significant variances, and provide explanations.
7. Support the month-end and year-end close processes with accurate cost accounting data and reports.
8. Assist in budget preparation by providing input on cost assumptions, plant fixed overhead, investment budgets, and forecasts.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial and cost information, creating detailed reports.
10. Identify process improvements to enhance cost management and operational efficiency.
11. Provide backup coverage for Senior Inventory Control Analyst and Production Analyst.
12. Develop and maintain the Investment Management Program in SAP.
13. Prepare internal orders, set up budgets, settle AUC, and manage monthly reporting processes.
14. Prepare depreciation and ROI calculations.
15. Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. CPA designation is preferred.
3. 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
4. Knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
5. Strong knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP, and advanced MS Excel skills.
6. Effective communication skills across organizational levels.
7. Proven experience analyzing data to identify patterns and trends, providing insightful commentary.
8. Understanding of manufacturing processes and inventory management.
9. Experience using data trends to influence strategic business decisions and make informed recommendations.
10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
