Job Description

Position Purpose summary :

The Correctional Program Facilitator delivers and facilitates cognitive behavioral therapy workshops attended by court mandated individuals focused on changing problematic thinking and behavioral patterns. Programs may be delivered virtually or in person.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver and facilitate all correctional programs to participants. These programs include, but are not limited to Anger Management; Anger and Relationships; Anger and Lifestyle Management; Alcohol and Drug Awareness; Theft Intervention and Prevention; Restorative Parenting; Victim Impact; Road Rage.
  • Maintain records on all attendees and absences and complete program certificates for successful clients.
  • Provide notes post workshop of who attended and who was absence and provide a statistics report back to the Crown.
  • Refer clients to outside resources and counselling when needed.
  • Complete statistical reports for SAMIS & MAG.

Working Conditions

  • Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
  • Environment comes with the dangers and hazards of working with individuals who have a criminal record and are required to complete a condition of institutional release.
  • HOURS OF WORK – MONDAY – FRIDAY, 9 : 00 AM – 4 : 30pm.

Education And Experience Qualifications

Education, Qualifications and Certifications :

  • Post-Secondary two-year Diploma in Correctional / Social Services field.
  • Up to date First Aid / CPR or willingness to receive training.
  • Up to date Non-Violent Crisis Prevention & Intervention Certificate

Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Three (3) years of related experience working in corrections.
  • Previous experience working with people in the correctional justice system.
  • Current clear Police Check

Skills And Capabilities

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills (written and verbal) in English.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Communication in French considered an asset
  • Proficient computer skills using Word, Excel and other office software.
  • Training and experience delivering correctional programs.
  • Ability to work independently.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $26.78 to $33.47 with a maximum of $40.16.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
