Job Description
What You’ll Do :
Reporting to the VP Enterprise Services Office, you’ll be responsible for managing cross-departmental Business Projects and / or Information Technology Systems (ITS) related projects in a diverse PMO Portfolio with increasing complexity and challenge according to experience and seniority. The incumbent is also responsible for supporting and continuous improvement of OTIP project management practices. This position requires strong project management knowledge including planning, executing and monitoring projects through to completion and benefits realization.
The core parts of your role will be to :
Project Management
- Manage project scope, quality, resources and communications and identify and manage issues effectively.
- Facilitate Waterfall and / or Agile ceremonies, release governance and dependency management and protect the project team from distractions, disruptions, and impediments to progress.
- Guide and coach project teams through risk identification and assessment.
- Guide project teams to develop and monitor risk approaches that appropriately weigh factors such as business strategy, process effectiveness, project delivery and privacy.
- Manage change and competing demands and determine impact on budget, time and risk using fact-based metrics and assumptions with effective communication of changes.
- Manage project timelines to appropriate level of detail, ranging from high-level oversight to detailed project schedules and integrated schedules across departments.
- Develop and maintain relationships and effectively communicate with project owners such as the leadership teams and managers, advocating effectively for IT with the business.
- Manage and coordinate vendors as required for projects specifically.
- Influence and champion successful change that drives new ways of doing business.
- Ensure that projects base delivery on sound operational and business process decisions.
- Assist with projects by focusing on the linkage between strategy and project.
- Participate, facilitate or lead review sessions with leaders to identify necessary support or action to ensure successful delivery of projects.
- Enhance and develop team members’ capabilities around project management leadership, best practices, and discipline.
- Using the Project Portfolio Management Process, assist business with development of Idea Assessments, assessment of project priority, strategy and risk with Project Sponsor.
- Support the continuous process improvement of Portfolio and Project Management practices through all projects and identify cross-departmental projects for process efficiencies.

A University degree in a related field is required. PMP and / or Agile certification is an asset.Experience leading Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid projects is required.A minimum of 5 years’ experience in information technology, financial services, insurance, or related industries.A wide range of technology projects could be included in the project portfolio; experience of managing a diverse portfolio with the ability to understand and articulate the technology is necessary.Leadership experience on projects regarding managing business sponsorship, internal and external partners, budget, customer expectations, assessment of risk, escalation and resolution of issues, and project plans through execution.Strong facilitation skills with the ability to plan and facilitate workshops, brainstorming and planning sessions, and detailed operational tasks.The ability to work in an environment where project processes and frameworks are in early stages of maturity.A self-starter and motivated team player who is flexible and can effectively deal with ambiguity and adapt quickly to shifting priorities and rapid changes.A positive attitude, a strong customer service orientation, and ability to present complex technical ideas clearly and in plain language to influence, negotiate and collaborate successfully.A problem solver with the ability to effectively identify and resolve issues.Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to provide updates to all levels.We also consider your potential.
