Job Title: Corporate Lab Technician

Location: St. Marys, Ontario

Summary/Job Scope

Conduct testing and provide results for the Mortar Equivalent program for VCNA. Support the conducting and testing of trials and studies for VCNA.


Key Job Responsibilities
  • Preparing, stripping molds, and crushing cubes.
  • Preparing, stripping molds, and measuring expansion bars.
  • Mortar Equivalent program testing.
  • Isocalorimetry program.
  • Performing other physical tests as required.
  • Weekly routine maintenance tasks (filters, greasing equipment, etc.).
  • Calibrating physical test equipment.
  • Sand testing and stocking.
  • Mini mill processing for cement trials.
  • Particle Size Analysis of cements.
  • Staining testing.
  • Inputting data into computer systems and process control charts, evaluating when changes are needed.
  • Performing all other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in science or engineering.
  • Lab experience is beneficial.
  • Cement or concrete experience is beneficial.
  • Three to five years of related experience and/or training or an acceptable equivalent.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and regulations.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Equipment/instrument troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Knowledge of the latest Windows operating systems and Excel.
