Job summary

Trez Capital is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A to support budgeting, planning, forecasting, liquidity management, and financial analysis across the business.

In collaboration with the VP FP&A and Director Data Analytics, you will contribute to long-range planning, development of KPI dashboards, and management reporting to enable informed leadership decisions.

Strong modelling, Excel and Power BI skills are essential, with experience in real estate finance and regulatory environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field.
  • At least three years of FP&A experience.
  • CPA, MBA, or CFA designation.
  • Demonstrated experience developing financial models and planning tools.
  • Advanced financial modelling using Excel and BI reporting connected to a data warehouse.
  • Experience developing KPI dashboards, databases, and automated processes.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for executive reports.
  • Real estate or regulated industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as analytical resource and business partner to multiple teams (Portfolio, Asset Management, Treasury, Underwriting).
  • Lead annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting with templates and guidelines.
  • Develop and enhance management reports and dashboards for executive decisions.
  • Oversee weekly liquidity forecast and coordinate inputs across functions.
  • Assess profitability and feasibility of products and initiatives with business cases.
  • Perform financial analysis and modeling for strategic opportunities and M&A.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency with Excel, Power BI, databases and automation.
  • Prepare recurring pipeline/origination reporting and assess cash flow impacts of new originations.
  • Maintain portfolio and fund-level forecasting models for Portfolio/Asset Management.

About the Role

Trez Capital is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A to support the company’s budgeting, planning, forecasting, liquidity management, and financial analysis activities.

Working closely with the Vice President, FP&A and Business Optimization and the Director, Data Analytics, you will contribute to long-range planning, budgeting, liquidity forecasting, and management reporting. You will also develop and monitor key performance indicators that provide meaningful insight into business performance and financial health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted analytical resource and business partner to Portfolio Management, Asset Management, Treasury, Underwriting, and Capital Raising.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes, including preparing budget templates and guidelines and supporting accurate, efficient submissions.
  • Develop and enhance management reports and dashboards that provide clear insights to support Executive Leadership Team decision-making.
  • Oversee the weekly liquidity forecast, coordinate inputs across business functions, and provide insights and conclusions to support management decisions.
  • Assess the profitability and feasibility of products, business lines, and corporate investment initiatives, and develop supporting business cases.
  • Perform financial analysis and modelling for strategic opportunities and M&A transactions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency through advanced Excel models, Power BI reporting, databases, and automation.
  • Prepare recurring pipeline and origination reporting and assess the liquidity and cash flow impact of new originations and modifications.
  • Maintain portfolio- and fund-level reporting and forecasting models to support Portfolio and Asset Management.
  • Perform other related duties reasonably aligned with the responsibilities and level of the role.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least three years of FP&A experience.
  • CPA, MBA, or CFA designation.
  • Demonstrated experience developing financial models and planning and forecasting tools.
  • Advanced financial modelling skills using Excel and business intelligence reporting tools connected to a data warehouse.
  • Experience developing KPI dashboards, databases, and systems, as well as improving or automating processes.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including experience preparing executive reports and presentations.
  • Commercial real estate industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry is considered an asset.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power Query, and Power BI.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and independent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to design and implement effective and efficient business processes and systems.
