Job description

Pathway Law is looking for an experienced Corporate/Estates Law Clerk to collaborate with our team on a per-file basis. This position is open to experienced clerks across Ontario and is available as a remote freelance position. The successful candidate is an experienced law clerk with a background in corporate law, business law, and estates law (including estate planning and estate administration).

Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Direct experience in corporate governance, incorporations, asset and share purchases and sales, reorganizations, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario estate administration law and procedure.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with a willingness to learn, grow, and embrace our client-centric model for legal services.
  • Strong organization, project management, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, proficient in web-based communications, and able to learn and adopt new legal software.
  • Experience in Appara and Estateably an asset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and update corporation minute books and rectification of deficiencies
  • Draft agreements and prepare related documents for corporate and tax reorganizations
  • Prepare applications and related documents for certificates of appointment of estate trustee, motions, and estate information returns
  • Prepare other estate administration documents as needed
  • Work with estate trustee clients in completing estate tasks
