Job description

Overview:

Our client is looking for a designated accounting professional to join their team. This role reports to the VP Finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete month-end close process
  • Preparation of the Monthly Financial Reporting Package for Executive Review
  • Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations monthly
  • Oversee the completion and distribution of all supplementary and divisional financial reports and analysis.
  • Full responsibility for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, cash flow, and disbursements.
  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly forecast and annual budgets.
  • Provide accounting and analytical support to sales, marketing, procurement and other internal departments.
  • Identify and implement business process improvement opportunities.
  • Perform continuous assessment of the close process to reduce the timing to close the financial period.
  • Manage staff members (3 Direct reports, total of 14), providing complete career development and performance evaluations.
  • Full management of year end external audit and tax compliance (Canada and U.S.)
  • Responsible for payroll and group benefits administration
  • Key liaison with Company’s Bank
  • Other special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • CPA
  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably distribution in a multi-currency environment
  • Experience in the consumer product distribution or retail industry would be an asset
  • People management experience
  • Proven experience with complete management of Finance and Accounting teams including month end close, reporting, analysis, account reconciliations and day-to-day operations
  • Experience with an ERP system and EMP (reporting and planning) Software
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite, Planful and ERP implementation would be a definite asset
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented, hands-on and driven to accomplish team goals and deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and succeed in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
