About the Company

Our client, a leading food manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to oversee financial operations across multiple manufacturing sites. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong cost controls, and strategic financial planning within a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

Role Overview

The Corporate Controller will be responsible for managing accounting operations, financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and compliance. This individual will provide financial insights to drive operational efficiency, enhance profitability, and ensure adherence to US GAAP and IFRS. The role also involves collaborating with senior leadership, overseeing audits, and managing a high-performing finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial operations for multiple manufacturing sites, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, and variance reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to banks, tax authorities, and external auditors.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, financial consolidations, and multi-entity reporting.
  • Implement and maintain cost control procedures, ensuring accurate tracking of material, labour, and overhead costs.
  • Oversee inventory valuation for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis to monitor cost trends and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure accurate depreciation and asset management for plant equipment and leases.

Budgeting, Forecasting & FP&A

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, aligning financial plans with corporate objectives.
  • Monitor plant financial performance against budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop financial models and conduct scenario analysis to support strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to provide data-driven insights for business growth.

Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Manage all aspects of internal and external audits, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Establish and enforce financial policies, internal controls, and risk management procedures.
  • Maintain strong relationships with tax authorities, auditors, banks, and external consultants.

Technology & Process Improvement

  • Oversee financial system integrations and automation, optimizing reporting processes.
  • Leverage ERP and other financial tools to enhance data accuracy and efficiency.
  • Identify and implement best practices to streamline accounting functions across locations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
  • 10+ years of accounting leadership experience, with at least 5 years in food or CPG manufacturing.
  • Strong expertise in US GAAP and IFRS, including compliance, reporting, and audits.
  • Proven experience with cost accounting, inventory management, and multi-site financial operations.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with a solution-oriented mindset for financial problem-solving.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
