POSITION PURPOSE

The Corporate Controller is responsible for managing all aspects of the organization’s accounting requirements, including day-to-day operational accounting, financial reporting, and internal control processes. The Corporate Controller will report to the CFO and will work closely with the broader senior leadership.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY & ASSOCIATED DUTIES

Finance Transformation:

•Consolidate and unify accounting processes between regional accounting teams to ready the business for an ERP upgrade.

•Leverage the ERP to consolidate four entities within the system. All entities follow the same accounting framework and currencies.

•Refinement of business processes, such as manufacturing, inventory management, and quote-to-cash, to align with leading practices to allow for an effective ERP adoption.

•Integrate tuck-in strategic acquisitions on an ad-hoc basis.

Operational Activities:

•Oversee the day-to-day operational accounting team including staffing needs.

•Review the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including supporting working papers under IFRS.

•Ensure that all statutory requirements are met including withholding payments (CPP, EI), GST, and corporate income tax filings.

•Advise on appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions, processes, or lines of service. Prepare technical accounting memos and analysis for senior leadership on an ad-hoc basis for potential business combinations, revenue contracts, partnership or investment arrangements, etc.

•Serve as the lead contact and oversee the organization’s internal and external audits.

•Design and implement internal controls to remediate any weaknesses identified through internal and external audits.

•Assist the Executive Team with the preparation of corporate materials and information packages for Board meetings as well as any ad hoc analysis required (i.e., make versus buy decisions and product costing estimates).

•Execute any other required duties or projects assigned by the CFO.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with advanced formula functions and pivot tables.

•Strong understanding of IFRS standards and operational accounting best practices.

•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solutions-based approach to addressing complex problems.

•Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

•Previous experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset: manufacturing or inventory experience, ERP implementations, Dynamics 365, finance transformations, post-merger integrations.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

•CPA designation or international equivalent.

COMPENSATION

•Base compensation ($140-160k) based on experience and qualifications. Variable compensation is dependent on company and individual performance. Other benefits include an employer paid benefits package, health care spending account, Employee Family Assistance Program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Profit Sharing and RSP matching plan.
