We’re looking for an experienced and dynamic Corporate Chef, reporting directly to our President based in Toronto. You will oversee, direct and drive food and beverage menu product development for new menu items and LTO menus. You will also play a pivotal role in the selection and implementation of tableware and restaurant equipment. You will be responsible for identifying additional revenue streams based on culinary trends, consumer research, Franchisee profitability, Operational excellence, Procurement opportunities and Marketing strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Create new presentation and appearance of current menu offerings (where necessary), while evolving menu through innovation and ideation
  • Conduct research on foods, menus, and customer trends, translating the findings into a menu development strategy
  • Make recommendations for restaurant equipment needed to execute a craveable menu
  • Follow through with testing of new items in selected restaurants prior to chain-wide roll out
  • Recipe Documentation (prepare recipes and plate assembly recipes)
  • Nutritional Analysis & Menu Calorie Labeling
  • Liaise between guests, Marketing, Procurement, Operations and Senior Leadership
  • Analyze and present menu costs & pricing
  • Responsible for product mix projections, leveraging the Business Intelligence team
  • Responsible for selection of all plateware, glassware and smallware
  • Accountable for take-out packaging recommendations
  • Execute training of new products with Operations and Trainers
  • Maintain responsibility for daily operation of the test kitchen, including cleanliness, safety, and scheduling of test kitchen activities and events.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Red Seal, Certified Working Chef (CWC) or Certified Chef de Cuisine (CCC) certification
  • A team player with the ability to function effectively in cross-departmental and internal/external teams
  • Well organized, self-managing, with strong multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Detailed knowledge of food technology, consumer food trends, flavoring and recipe development and food preparation processes
  • Product innovation through a balance of strong culinary creativity and quantitative/analytical skills that produce results meeting consumer needs, company financial standards, and operational soundness
  • Minimum 6 years of leadership & coaching experience, ideally with a franchisor business within the restaurant or retail industry
  • Strategic thinking & planning abilities with the ability to implement plans through to execution
  • Strong ability to problem solve while communicating effectively with all key stakeholders and guests
  • Effective oral and written communication is required for interactions at all levels.
  • Ability to deal with unexpected work demands, changes to deadlines and high pressure.
