Job summary

BURNCO Rock Products Ltd in Calgary is seeking an early career Corporate Accountant, Financial Reporting, to join our head office. You will assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analyze key business drivers to support decision-making.

You will work with the Manager, Financial Reporting, collaborating cross-functionally to improve processes, prepare notes for statements and MD&A, and support audits. This role offers growth and a path toward CPA certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• Active CPA track or pursuing CPA program is expected
• Experience with month-end close and financial reporting is preferred
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and prepaid schedules
• Familiarity with ASPE is an asset
• Strong Excel skills and data analysis experience
• Exposure to Power BI or data visualization tools a plus

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly financial reporting package for management reviews
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts with variance analysis and ASPE compliance
• Maintain monthly prepaid expenses and amortization schedules
• Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries with accuracy
• Support preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A narratives
• Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline month-end close and improve processes
• Assist external auditors during interim and year-end audits
• Provide ad-hoc financial analyses to various departments
