Position Overview:
The Corporate Accountant is responsible for supporting the finance and accounting operations of the Inland Group, including month-end close and the production of monthly financial reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Promoting and adhering to our safety and respectful workplace culture while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance with all provincial and federal rules and regulations;
- Upholding and instilling in others the principles and values of our Corporate Mission, while maintaining high efficiency and productivity;
- Following Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and management directives to ensure work is done according to specifications and regulations;
- Analyzing and preparing financial statements that comply with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise;
- Completing month-end closing and preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations;
- Supporting site managers and staff regarding monthly financial results;
- Collecting and reporting daily and monthly activity (de-icing events, collection);
- Assisting with preparation for external and internal audits as required;
- Assisting with annual budget preparation;
- Collaborating with team members and external stakeholders to complete duties;
- Promoting the company's interests by fostering goodwill and support between Inland and its customers, ensuring superior service and satisfaction;
- Fostering a team environment and creating a group culture;
- Performing additional projects, duties, and assignments as required or requested.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred;
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in finance, accounting, business administration, or relevant field, with continuing education and experience;
- At least 2 years of progressive experience in an accounting role;
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Intermediate computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs;
- Ability to manage multiple projects on deadline;
- Positive attitude and good-natured demeanor;
- Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to change to support company growth and meet customer needs.
Work Environment:
- The role is performed in a professional office environment using standard office equipment.
- Occasional work outside normal hours may be required to meet operational needs.
Physical Demands:
- Remaining seated for extended periods while using a computer, keyboard, and mouse;
- Bending, lifting files/documents, and opening cabinets as needed.
