Position Overview:

The Corporate Accountant is responsible for supporting the finance and accounting operations of the Inland Group, including month-end close and the production of monthly financial reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Promoting and adhering to our safety and respectful workplace culture while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance with all provincial and federal rules and regulations;
  2. Upholding and instilling in others the principles and values of our Corporate Mission, while maintaining high efficiency and productivity;
  3. Following Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and management directives to ensure work is done according to specifications and regulations;
  4. Analyzing and preparing financial statements that comply with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise;
  5. Completing month-end closing and preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations;
  6. Supporting site managers and staff regarding monthly financial results;
  7. Collecting and reporting daily and monthly activity (de-icing events, collection);
  8. Assisting with preparation for external and internal audits as required;
  9. Assisting with annual budget preparation;
  10. Collaborating with team members and external stakeholders to complete duties;
  11. Promoting the company's interests by fostering goodwill and support between Inland and its customers, ensuring superior service and satisfaction;
  12. Fostering a team environment and creating a group culture;
  13. Performing additional projects, duties, and assignments as required or requested.

Required Skills and Experience:

  1. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred;
  2. Post-secondary degree or diploma in finance, accounting, business administration, or relevant field, with continuing education and experience;
  3. At least 2 years of progressive experience in an accounting role;
  4. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills;
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  6. Intermediate computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs;
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects on deadline;
  8. Positive attitude and good-natured demeanor;
  9. Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality;
  10. Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to change to support company growth and meet customer needs.

Work Environment:

  • The role is performed in a professional office environment using standard office equipment.
  • Occasional work outside normal hours may be required to meet operational needs.

Physical Demands:

  • Remaining seated for extended periods while using a computer, keyboard, and mouse;
