Position: Corporate Accountant

Reports To: Manager, Corporate Accounting

Role Overview:

As a Corporate Accountant in our Accounting team, you will play a key role in performing daily accounting functions while expanding your skills across multiple areas of the business. This is not just an accounting role – you will be part of a dynamic forward-thinking team that encourages innovation and process improvement, with opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration and contribute to broader strategic and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily accounting activities including wire transfers, cheque requisitions, manage and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger. You'll see the full cycle of accounting to ensure efficient processes and robust internal controls.
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end financial statements, working papers, and supporting schedules for internal and external use.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable aging reports, identifying areas for optimization and recommend action plans for improvement. Coordinate closely with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Oversee corporate billings and prepare monthly chargebacks for related parties, maintaining accuracy and consistency.
  • Conduct monthly GST/HST/QST reconciliations, ensuring timely remittances and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and working capital analysis, supporting the company's financial health.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and perform variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with external tax consultants to ensure accuracy in the preparation of annual tax returns and assist with cross-border transaction management.
  • Streamline accounting processes and contribute to process improvements across the business, optimizing operations beyond typical accounting functions.

Qualifications:

  • A foundation in accounting with 1-3 years of experience, preferably in real estate, development, or property management industries.
  • CPA designation or currently in progress.
  • Strong business acumen with a proactive mindset and the ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • A keen interest in growing your knowledge and skill set beyond traditional accounting.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel; knowledge of JD Edwards or Yardi preferred.
