Job summary

St-Barbara-Limited- is seeking a Core Facility Technician for a full-time temporary 8-week assignment at the Touquoy mine site in Moose River Gold Mines. You will handle and process core to high data quality while following health and safety rules, reporting to the Core Facility Supervisor.

Responsibilities include safety, following SOPs, transporting core, maintaining samples, assisting geologists in the field, and performing general labour duties on site. Competitive hourly pay of $26.45.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain health and safety for self and others and complete required safety training.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and ensure consistent quality.
• Monitor contractor safety and compliance on site.
• Transport core materials between areas.
• Proof-read sample sheets and notify supervisor of irregularities.
• Keep samples in correct order and properly labelled.
• Inspect sampling equipment and arrange repairs when needed.
• Report irregular core findings to the supervisor.
• Organize and prepare samples as requested by staff.
• Work with the Core Facility Supervisor to improve processes.
• Assist geologists during drilling campaigns in the field.
• Perform site cleanup and general labour duties.
• Maintain housekeeping and manage a preventive maintenance system.

Job description

We are currently seeking a candidate to fill the role of aCore Facility Technician.

This is a full-time temporary 8-week position is based at our Touquoy mine site in Moose River Gold Mines. The compensation is $26.45 an hour.

Reporting to the Core Facility Supervisor, the Core Facility Technician handles and processes core to the highest standards to ensure outstanding data quality while following health and safety rules and standard operating procedures. Additionally, the Core Facility Technician will assist with the day-to-day duties of Exploration and Operations.

The Opportunity

1. Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
2. Following Standard Operating Procedures.
3. Monitoring and ensuring contractors safety.
4. Transporting core.
5. Thoroughly proof-read sample sheet, looking for irregularities and notifying the supervisor if anything needs to be corrected.
6. Maintaining samples in correct order.
7. Counting, measuring, weighing, and labelling samples as needed.
8. Ensuring sampling machinery and tools are clean and in a workable condition, notify supervisor if there are any necessary repairs to be done.
9. Reporting any irregular findings with core to supervisor.
10. Organizing and preparing samples as requested.
11. Working with Core Facility Supervisor to improve sample processes.
12. Assisting Geologists in the field during drilling campaigns.
13. Site clean-up as required.
14. General labour work.
15. House keeping duties.
16. Inspecting and managing of a preventative maintenance system.
