Job summary

Toronto hybrid Copywriter, Financial Communications role for a large banking client, responsible for creating and maintaining customer-facing external communications and ensuring clarity, compliance, and alignment with brand standards.

Ideal candidate has 5+ years in banking/regulatory communications, excellent writing and editing skills, and experience translating complex legal content into plain language. Collaborative with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Product, and Operations teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of copywriting, content design, technical writing, or communications experience within banking, financial services, lending, or another regulated industry.
• Proven experience developing customer-facing external communications.
• Strong editing, proofreading, and content review skills.
• Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory information into clear, plain-language content.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft, edit, and maintain customer-facing communications, including letters, emails, secure messages, SMS, notices, disclosures, agreements, and servicing communications.
• Translate complex legal, regulatory, and business requirements into clear and customer-friendly language.
• Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Product, and Operations teams to gather requirements and ensure content meets regulatory and business standards.
• Incorporate brand, legal, compliance, risk, and customer experience requirements into communications.
• Review and refine content to improve clarity, accessibility, readability, and overall customer experience.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, compliance, and alignment with enterprise communication standards.
• Manage multiple communication initiatives, approvals, documentation, and version control.
• Support content updates resulting from regulatory, product, policy, or operational changes.
• Work within established governance and approval processes to move communications through review and final delivery.

Client Overview

Our large banking client is seeking an experienced Copywriter, Financial Communications to develop and maintain customer-facing operational communications. This role is ideal for a strong writer with financial services experience who can translate complex legal, regulatory, and business requirements into clear, customer-friendly content.

Role Overview

The Copywriter will be responsible for creating and refining regulated external communications across multiple customer touchpoints. This role will work closely with Product, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams to ensure communications are accurate, accessible, compliant, and aligned with brand and customer experience standards.

• Strong experience writing regulated communications such as notices, disclosures, agreements, servicing communications, or regulatory correspondence.
• Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and content review skills.
• Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory information into clear, plain-language content.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience working with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Product, Customer Experience, or Operations teams.
• Strong understanding of accessibility, plain language, and customer communication standards.
• Experience with communication governance, approval processes, documentation, and version control.
• Experience supporting communications within a large financial institution is strongly preferred.
  

Location:

Toronto, ON. Hybrid, 4 days per week in office.
