Job description

Sacopan Inc is seeking to fill the position of Health and Safety Advisor (Preventionist) for its factory located in Sacré-Cœur.

Under the supervision of the Plant Manager and in collaboration with the Human Resources Manager, the Occupational Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for leading activities related to OHS. This includes conducting audits, inspections, and observations on the production process, updating and disseminating corporate policies, procedures, and programs. The preventionist also trains staff on occupational health and safety topics and implements best practices in occupational health and safety.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensure factory compliance with occupational health and safety laws and regulations through audits, inspections, and observations.
  2. Develop and deliver training to workers on various occupational health and safety topics aligned with the corporate health and safety plan.
  3. Inform and train staff on updates to corporate policies, procedures, and programs.
  4. Annually review and update health and safety policies.
  5. Prepare and update risk analyses for all positions and conduct staff training on corrective and preventive measures.
  6. Coordinate the health and safety committee.
  7. Propose improvements to health and safety practices at the plant.
  8. Participate in specific mandates and short-term projects.
  9. Lead the health and safety culture within the factory.
  10. Stay informed about the latest developments in health and safety.
  11. Perform ergonomic analyses using the REBA method.
  12. Serve as the point of contact with the prevention mutual and follow up on complaints.
  13. Perform other related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  1. Relevant training or equivalent experience in occupational health and safety.
  2. Good knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
  3. Demonstrated leadership skills.
  4. Ability to influence and act as an agent of change.
  5. Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  6. Strong analytical skills.
