Job summary

Defence Construction Canada is seeking a Coordinator, Security to support corporate and industrial security programs, protecting information, assets and operations while collaborating with consultants, contractors and partners.

You will monitor risks, respond to incidents, advise on security requirements, develop site security plans, conduct audits, and participate in risk management, with occasional travel to sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: College diploma in security or a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain corporate and industrial security programs ensuring Consultant, Contractor and Sub-Contractor compliance with security requirements and supporting the protection of sensitive information, assets, and operations.
  • Monitor security incidents, support investigations when required, and help address security concerns before they become larger risks.
  • Advise Consultants, Contractors and Sub-contractors on industrial security requirements and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Client-Partners, industry partners, and internal teams to support security initiatives, develop site-level security plans, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to corporate and industrial security requirements.
  • Assist with regional security training and development activities.
  • Support the Deputy Corporate Security Officer as required.
  • Prepare and provide advice on site security plans.
  • Conduct annual security audits and assessments.
  • Support risk management activities.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What You'll Do
Support Security Programs That Matter

You'll help maintain corporate and industrial security programs, ensuring Consultant, Contractor and Sub-Contractor compliance with security requirements and supporting the protection of sensitive information, assets, and operations.

Monitor Risks & Respond to Security Issues

You'll monitor security incidents, support investigations when required, and help address security concerns before they become larger risks. Your work will contribute to maintaining a safe and secure operating environment.

Advise, Educate & Build Awareness

You'll provide guidance to Consultants, Contractors and Sub-contractors on industrial security requirements and best practices.

Collaborate & Strengthen Compliance

You'll work closely with Client-Partners, industry partners, and internal teams to support security initiatives, develop site-level security plans, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to corporate and industrial security requirements.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with regional security training and development activities.
  • Support the Deputy Corporate Security Officer as required.
  • Prepare and provide advice on site security plans.
  • Conduct annual security audits and assessments.
  • Support risk management activities.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Working Environment
  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel.
  • Some work may take place at environmental or construction sites where basic PPE may be required.

  • Minimum: College diploma in security or a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Security best practices, legislation, standards, and industry trends
  • Federal Security Requirements Checklist (FSRC) and industrial security requirements
  • Project, contract, and risk management principles
  • Health and safety requirements and compliance practices
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency with common software applications and security documentation tools

About 17 Wing Detachment Dundurn

17 Wing Detachment Dundurn is a long established Canadian Armed Forces installation that supports national defence activities, including training and logistics functions.
