Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Services, the Coordinator, Pharmacy Operations Support, is responsible for supporting overall pharmacy operations including human resources planning, product preparation services, inventory management, drug distribution services, clinical services, and strategic projects. The role involves assisting with human, financial, and material resources, developing procedures, organizing workflow, and maintaining quality assurance.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Directors, Managers, and Coordinators in pharmacy operations including product preparation, drug distribution, inventory management, clinical services, recruitment, scheduling, and posting processes.
  • Partner with leadership in strategic project planning and implementation of local and LMPS initiatives, designing change processes for service model transitions.
  • Develop and monitor project implementation processes, ensure alignment with LMPS goals, policies, and vision, and report on progress.
  • Provide education related to projects to individuals, groups, and communities to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Lead and foster an environment supportive of engagement, innovation, and safe, quality care.
  • Identify training needs of support staff and students; develop and implement programs to maintain skills and knowledge.
  • Coordinate control and distribution of narcotics and controlled drugs, developing procedures for monitoring and legal record keeping.
  • Coordinate drug distribution, develop procedures for medication safety and accuracy.
  • Manage inventory, conduct physical counts and audits for accuracy.
  • Contribute to operational and capital budget development, analyze financial data, investigate variances, and seek cost-effective opportunities.
  • Maintain effective communication with staff and stakeholders across sites and programs.
  • Collaborate on policy development and updates related to pharmacy operations.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, identify improvements, and follow up as needed.
  • Chair or participate in committees, prepare reports, and recommend follow-up actions.
  • Develop, implement, and negotiate contingency plans for essential services.
  • Keep the Director informed of significant activities and events.
Qualifications
Education and Experience

Graduation from a recognized Pharmacy Technician Program. Five years of recent pharmacy operations experience in a large, complex, unionized healthcare setting, including project management and systems development.
