An established industry player is seeking a passionate Coordinator of Victim Services to implement and support vital programs aimed at helping individuals and communities affected by victimization. The mandate of the Department of Justice is to administer justice, including policing, community justice, victims services and corrections in the Northwest Territories. This mandate will be carried out in a manner which respects community and indigenous values and encourages communities to assume increasing responsibilities.
As the Coordinator of Victim Services, located in Yellowknife and reporting to the Manager of Survivor Supports, you will be responsible for implementing new and supporting existing victim services programs in the Northwest Territories (NWT). You will apply for funding and prepare funding reports to enhance victim services in the NWT which are designed to help individuals, families and communities deal with the impact of victimization. You will also be responsible for implementing new and ongoing victim initiatives for the Department of Justice to further the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) commitment to build safer communities and support capacity building within the NWT's communities. Your work will be completed in a manner that reflects the needs of victims in the NWT, current best practices in research, both nationally and internationally. You'll be working with diverse groups of people and handling emotionally charged situations, good communication skills are important. To be successful in this role completion of a bachelor's degree in a Social Sciences field (criminology, psychology, social work, sociology) coupled with 3 years, experience working in community development, within the community justice field or with victims.
The following equivalencies will be considered:
Diploma in in a Social Sciences field (criminology, psychology, social work, sociology) coupled with 5 years¿ experience working in community development, within the community justice field or with victims.
OR
Masters degree in a Social Sciences field (criminology, psychology, social work, sociology) coupled with 1 year experience working in community development, within the community justice field or with victims.
