Job Description

Sinai Health is seeking a Maximizing Aging Using Volunteer Engagement (MAUVE) Coordinator to support the Volunteer Resources department. The coordinator will facilitate the MAUVE Program by applying expertise in geriatrics, training, and assessment. Working closely with the Elder Life Specialist, care team on inpatient nursing units, volunteers, and geriatric patients, the coordinator must possess strong organizational and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will :

  • Be onsite at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital with occasional travel to Mount Sinai Hospital
  • Support MAUVE volunteers and co-op students with strategies and hands-on interventions
  • Provide training and shadowing specific to MAUVE to volunteers
  • Conduct patient referrals and enrollments to create targeted, patient-centered interventions
  • Create new volunteer opportunities to support patient stimulation activities
  • Attend nursing huddles, support volunteers on shift, and coordinate with the care team for patient referrals
  • Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders, volunteers, and Volunteer Resources team
  • Respond to emails and inquiries promptly
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed
  • Perform other duties as required

Job Requirements

Mandatory :

  • Degree or diploma in Recreation, Gerontology, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Preferred :

  • Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach, Validation, Montessori Methods / DementiAbility, P.I.E.C.E.S., and U-First!
  • Experience in healthcare setting
  • Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience planning, developing, and evaluating programs, preferably in geriatrics
  • Ability to facilitate activities and deliver training and presentations
  • Effective delegation and feedback skills
  • Proven leadership supporting diverse patients and team members
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, diplomacy, and conflict management skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
