Job summary

EmploisRH, Inc. in Saint-Laurent seeks a Labour Relations Consultant to advise managers on employee management, handle conflicts, and support negotiation processes. You will promote a respectful work environment and ensure compliance with collective agreements and laws.

The role requires collaboration across stakeholders and travel to CSSMB establishments. Qualified candidates hold a law degree and must be a Quebec Bar member, with at least five years in labour relations and fluency in French.

Qualifications

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in law and be a member of the Quebec Bar.
  • Minimum five years of experience in labour relations or as a business partner in HR.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations, collective agreements, and labour laws.
  • Experience in investigations related to psychological harassment.
  • Excellent command of French, both oral and written.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills with good listening and influencing abilities.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound organizational and planning abilities; travel to CSSMB establishments may be required.

The administrative heart of the CSSMB in Saint-Laurent

Located in Saint-Laurent, the Head Office brings together the administrative teams that support all CSSMB establishments. We work with rigor, collaboration, and a constant concern for service. Join a team whose work supports the success of thousands of students.

Responsibilities

At the heart of the action, you will act as a consultant to managers by assisting them in managing labour relations issues. Through your leadership, analytical skills, and interpersonal abilities, you will help prevent and resolve conflicts, support negotiation processes, and promote a positive and respectful work environment.

To leverage your expertise, you will be required to:

  • Provide close advisory support to managers during specific employee management situations;

  • Analyze and propose innovative solutions to encountered issues, in a continuous improvement process;

  • Initiate prevention actions, interventions during conflict situations, and conflict resolution;

  • Support managers and employees during workplace climate issues;

  • Act as a representative of the school service center, particularly on joint committees (labour relations committees, grievance committee, etc.), administrative tribunals, and ensure follow-ups that arise;

  • Ensure follow-up on grievance files and prepare arbitration files;

  • Participate in the local negotiation process;

  • Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with partners in a constructive and collaborative vision, based on negotiation, communication, and solution-seeking;

  • Ensure the application and interpretation of all collective agreements, laws, and regulations affecting the working conditions of unionized staff;

  • Perform any other responsibilities compatible with their role that may be assigned by their immediate supervisor.

Requirements
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in law;

  • Be a member of the Quebec Bar;

  • Have at least five (5) years of relevant experience in labour relations or as a business partner in human resources;

  • Have a good knowledge of regulations, collective agreements, and laws related to labour law;

  • Have experience in investigations related to psychological harassment;

  • Have an excellent command of French, both oral and written;

  • Demonstrate negotiation and mediation skills as well as a strong ability to listen and influence;

  • Be able to work in a team and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders and partners;

  • Show aptitude for decision-making as well as for resolving disputes and complex problems;

  • Have a good sense of organization and planning;

  • Be able to travel to various CSSMB establishments.
