Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager or designate, the Coordinator - Intravenous Programs has the on-going responsibility to coordinate the Home IV Program by overseeing the day-to-day administrative and supervisory aspects of the Program. Assists the Nurse Manager to identify, review, develop, and implement the procedures, goals, objectives, and future initiatives of the IV Therapy Department.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from a recognized nursing program plus three years' recent related IV Therapy experience, including one year in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.

  • Ability to supervise assigned staff.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, organizational, and teaching skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage the Home I.V. Program caseload.
  • Ability to deal effectively with patients, families, physicians, program and hospital staff and community agencies.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
