Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Coordinator collaborates with administrators, managers, and staff to develop and implement an Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program within Dearness Home. The role focuses on continuous improvement, policy recommendation, procedure implementation, outbreak management, and liaising with Public Health. The Coordinator supervises nursing staff to ensure compliance and fosters a culture of adherence to infection control practices, emphasizing person-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and monitor IPAC policies and procedures.
  • Manage infectious disease outbreaks in coordination with Public Health.
  • Supervise nursing staff to ensure compliance with infection control practices.
  • Conduct surveillance, reporting, and data analysis related to infection control.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement in infection prevention.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Nursing program (e.g., Registered Practical Nurse) with registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current certification in infection control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology.
  • Experience in infection prevention, including infectious diseases, disinfection, data analysis, reporting, asepsis, microbiology, and program management.
  • Ability to respond to legislated or urgent demands beyond regular hours.
  • Availability for weekend supervision and attending meetings as needed.

Additional Requirements

  • TB test and annual influenza immunization.
  • Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3).
  • Ability to work on-site at Dearness Home, 710 Southdale Rd, London, ON.

Compensation

Range: $77,276 - $100,843

This is a temporary full-time position up to 2 years.

Work Schedule

Full-time hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., rotating every other weekend, on-site.
