Join a growing Government Relations team and help shape the conversations that influence public policy, infrastructure, communities, and the future of the industries we serve. This role offers a unique opportunity for an early-career professional to gain exposure to government affairs activities across Québec, Canada, and, where applicable, the broader global WSP network. Working alongside experienced government relations professionals, you will support strategic stakeholder engagement, public policy monitoring, advocacy initiatives, and executive-level government interactions while building a strong foundation for a career in government relations and public affairs.
Monitor legislative, regulatory, political, and public policy developments and provide timely insights that support strategic decision-making.
Research government priorities, policy issues, public-sector stakeholders, and emerging trends relevant to WSP's business and clients.
Prepare briefing notes, executive summaries, presentations, stakeholder profiles, key messages, and other materials for senior leaders and government stakeholder meetings.
Coordinate meetings, consultations, industry events, and stakeholder engagement activities while ensuring participants are well prepared and informed.
Attend meetings, document key discussions, decisions, and action items, and help ensure follow-up commitments are completed.
Maintain stakeholder databases, engagement records, government contact lists, legislative trackers, SharePoint repositories, and other information-management tools.
Collaborate with internal subject-matter experts and business leaders to translate complex technical information into concise, audience-focused communications.
Support advocacy initiatives, industry associations, conferences, consultations, and other government relations activities while contributing to a professional, ethical, and coordinated approach to government engagement.
Postsecondary degree or diploma in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Government Relations, Communications, Law, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Typically 1–3 years of experience in a political office, government environment, public affairs function, government relations team, public relations agency, consulting environment, or similar setting.
Strong understanding of Canadian political institutions, legislative processes, and government decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to prepare briefing notes, presentations, research summaries, or materials intended for senior leaders, elected officials, or decision-makers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English.Bilingualism is required.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, and experience using SharePoint or similar document and information-management platforms.
Exceptional research, analytical, organizational, and project-coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proven attention to detail, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights.
