The Surgery Implementation Coordinator, reporting to the Program Manager for Operative Services, is responsible for the activities across all stages of the Institute for Healthcare (IHO) project, which aligns with the Alberta Surgical Initiative (ASI). The Coordinator works directly with IHO key stakeholders and is responsible for project management activities across all stages of a project including pre-project activities and spanning project initiation, planning and execution, implementation, evaluation and closure. The Coordinator applies project management methodology and expertise, effectively facilitates diverse groups addressing complex issues, and skillfully engages stakeholders to develop effective and efficient solutions and health services. This position applies knowledge management practices and expertise to effectively manage project knowledge, contribute to organizational learning. The Coordinator must possess the skills to use data and information to effectively advance quality and innovation and is committed to quality improvement and appropriately applies change management and process improvement principles, knowledge and expertise. The Coordinator works with a high degree of independence on assigned projects, but frequently within a team-based and matrix resourcing environment and seeks guidance appropriately for complex and/or unfamiliar situations. The role requires depth and breadth of knowledge and skill, while familiarity with healthcare environments contributes to success in the position. Travel is required and may include the use of a personal vehicle. A standard driver's abstract may also be required for use of a corporate vehicle. This position is non-Unionized.

Required Qualifications:
Post secondary degree in a health care profession, business or related field. 3 years of experience in project management, including knowledge of project management principles, tools and methodologies. Experience with coordinating teams through facilitation/coordination of project planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a unique project environment with demonstrated ability to move projects forward within these constraints. Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communication; ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult situations. Experience with MS Office suite (including MS Project, Visio, MS Teams). Motivated and adaptable team player. Proven ability to foster relationships and partnerships with complex and varied internal and external individuals and groups. Ability to work independently, prioritize and meet deadlines. Demonstrated application of systems thinking and change management. Meeting facilitation skills.
