CBC Kelowna is looking for a producer to coordinate our multi platform news content across our British Columbia locations. You will be an accomplished journalist with a sharp eye for a range of stories that connect with contemporary Canada and a proven track record of reporting on diverse and underrepresented communities.
In this role, you will work with and assign reporters in CBC’s smaller bureaus around B.C. for all digital, audio and video platforms. You will provide hands-on editorial direction on the daily news agenda and lead and motivate staff to publish and distribute breaking news and fast-paced multimedia content. You will vet material and will provide feedback and mentorship as needed.
Reporting to the Executive Producer, you will help guide programming decisions around breaking news, live coverage, alerts, video, photos and in-depth content in line with strategic goals.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding and awareness of issues and events particular to British Columbia generally, and will have strong ties to, and a deep understanding of, underrepresented communities and equity-deserving groups in the Interior and North of British Columbia. You care about the people you work with and have a deep appreciation for different perspectives, opinions, and experiences. You live and promote the values of diversity, inclusion, and respectful work culture.
You will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve.
The Coordinating Producer for British Columbia based in Kelowna plays a key role in elevating top stories across various media platforms, including radio, visual and digital. The role involves assigning, programming and coordinating efforts across different teams to ensure that news stories reach diverse audiences, regardless of their preferred platform.
