Job summary

Memorial University is seeking an Academic Staff Member – Cooperative Education (ASMCE) for the Engineering Cooperative Education Office (ECEO) beginning October 1, 2026. The four-month term may be extended.

The role focuses on monitoring and evaluating work terms, counseling students, and developing employment opportunities. The successful candidate will have an undergraduate engineering degree, PEGNL eligibility, and at least five years of postgraduate practical experience.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate engineering degree; co-op program preferred.
• Eligible for PEGNL membership.
• Minimum five years of postgraduate practical experience in industry/government/business.
• Experience in composing and evaluating technical communications.
• Experience in cooperative education at university level is an asset.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills; able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate students in the workplace.
• Provide individual career and professional development counseling.
• Develop suitable work term opportunities and promote them to Faculty Council.
• Contribute to program improvement and engage in academic service.
• Travel within the local area as required.
