Job description

This position is responsible for learning and developing engineering, project management, and leadership skills while actively undertaking and accomplishing assignments assigned to them.

This Co-Op Engineer will stay for a duration of one year.

Essential Functions:

  1. Replace and upgrade obsolete PLCs and PCs to modern, reliable systems.
  2. Work on automation projects to improve safety, production efficiency, and reduce downtime.
  3. Assist in the rollout and utilization of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities.
  4. Use AutoCAD for design modification of parts to improve reliability.
  5. Work on reliability improvement projects with Mechanics and Electricians.
  6. Develop and modify Preventive Maintenance Calendars.
  7. Work with suppliers to find solutions for frequent maintenance issues.
  8. Track Key Performance Indicators and update the Reliability Board.
  9. Write applicable Maintenance Procedures to promote defect-free maintenance work.
  10. Maintain, develop, and enter machine and part data into CMMS.
  11. Assist the EHS department in creating various procedures.
  12. Help implement and improve E-Check, AM Calendar, and E-Tag systems.
  13. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be a registered University Internship student within an Engineering Discipline (Automation / Robotics / Electrical) and in good standing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software.
  • Strong automation knowledge.
  • Possess strong critical thinking, problem-solving, analyzing, and examining skills to find the best solutions to various situations.
  • Proven health and safety accountability.
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
