The opportunity:

The Cook's Helper is responsible for performing a variety of preparation duties in a traditional institutional kitchen in accordance with production schedules and standardized recipes, following accepted safety and food handling policies and procedures, with an overall focus on quality and quantity food standards and controls as established for the Department.

Responsibilities
  • Assists Cook in preparing food items in a timely fashion following production time schedules, prescribed recipes, portions, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assists in meal service as required relating to beverage and meal service, plating of food, clearing, and cleaning of dining rooms, etc.
  • Assists in regular and modified foods as directed to meet resident diet modifications and recipe compliance.
  • Maintains and sanitizes work area and all related equipment. Follows cleaning schedule.
  • Follows proper food handling procedures including maintaining food in a temperature safety zone.
  • Maintains established AgeCare policies, procedures, and objectives for quality assurance and safety.
Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or equivalent is preferred.
  • Certification in a nationally recognized food service safety program.
  • Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Food Safe Certification Level 1.
  • 2 years of experience as a Cook/Assistant in a Healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with Juice dispenser, Dish Machine, Steam tables, Chemical Dispenser, Knives, Ovens, Mixer, and other kitchen equipment.

Internal Closing Date: Sept Oct 2/25

Hours of work: 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm (4 on 4 off)
