Position: Cook

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. In this role, you will ensure residents' nutritional needs are met by preparing delicious, wholesome meals in collaboration with the dietary team. Your responsibilities include menu planning, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.

Mandatory Experience: Experience working in a long-term care facility is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and menu plans.
• Serve meals at appropriate temperatures and times.
• Assist in serving meals, respecting residents' food preferences.
• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage and handling.
• Collaborate on menu development to meet nutritional and preference needs.
• Support food cost control, waste reduction, and ordering processes.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate supply orders.
• Ensure compliance with Public Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and equipment.
• Assist with special events and catering as needed.

Requirements

• Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
• Chef/Cook Certification from a recognized college, preferably Red Seal.
• Food Handler's Certificate, kept current.
• Experience in long-term care, seniors' facilities, or related settings (hospitality, healthcare, restaurant).
• Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination per Ontario Ministry policies.
