Job Opportunity: Cook

RhynoCare Staffing is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team in partnered long-term care facilities. This role is essential in ensuring residents receive nutritious, delicious, and wholesome meals, meeting their dietary needs and preferences.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and menu plans.
  2. Serve meals at appropriate temperatures and in a timely manner.
  3. Assist with serving meals to residents, respecting their food preferences.
  4. Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper food storage and handling.
  5. Collaborate with dietary staff to develop and implement menus that meet nutritional and resident preferences.
  6. Assist in controlling food costs, waste management, and inventory ordering.
  7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment and utensils.
  8. Support with special events and catering as needed.

Requirements:

  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Chef/Cook Certification from a recognized community college, preferably Red Seal.
  • Valid Food Handler's Certificate (must be kept current).
  • Experience in a long-term care setting or with seniors is preferred; experience in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality environments is acceptable.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination in line with Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care policy.

Skills:

  • Genuine interest in caring for the elderly and sensitivity to their needs.
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the role, including bending, standing, lifting, working with temperatures, and maintaining safety practices.
  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to schedules.
  • Flexibility and adaptability within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
