Qualifications

About Nithview Community:

Nithview Community is a seniors' community designed to provide several types of accommodation and services. Residents are able to choose the type of accommodation that is most appropriate for their care needs and continue to live within the community of care as their needs change. Emphasis is placed on assisting residents to live life to the fullest in this dynamic residential setting.
About the Position:

Reporting to the Director of Support, the Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the residents according to Canada’s Food Guide requirements, legislative standards and regulations, and TCMH policies and procedures. The professional is responsible for all aspects of food production, food service and sanitation.

  • A Weekend Premium of $2.00 hourly applies to all hours worked between 10:00pm on Friday and 6:00am on Monday.
  • A Night Shift Premium of $0.40 hourly applies to all regular hours worked between 10:00pm and 6:00am.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, portions, and presents meal and snacks to be served to residents, visitors, staff and special events
  • Prepares food for therapeutic, texture modification, and preference diets (up to 160 residents)
  • Organizes food preparation schedules to meet meal deadlines
  • Ensures that work area and equipment are maintained organized and clean
  • Participates in training and meetings ensuring the quality of the services

Minimal Requirements:

  • Must have Food Handler Certification
  • Culinary diploma or a Red Seal Cook Certification is preferred
  • Long-Term Care or institutional cooking experience is an asset
